Case Chat
The Chat tab in the case detail view provides a discussion channel scoped to the case. Use it to coordinate with team members, record investigative notes in context, or communicate with analysts from linked organisations who have access to the shared case.
The Chat tab requires the viewChat permission. A chat icon in the top
navigation bar opens an organisation-wide channel not tied to a specific case.
Using case chat
Open a case and click the Chat tab. The channel is pre-created for the case and named after the case identifier. Messages are visible to all users with access to the case.
To send a message, type in the input field at the bottom and press Enter. Use Shift+Enter for line breaks within a message.
Chat messages are not included in case exports, reports, or the timeline. They are stored in the connected Rocket.Chat instance.
Organisation-wide chat
Click the chat icon in the top navigation bar to open the Rocket.Chat interface in a panel. From here you can:
Access organisation-wide channels.
Switch between direct messages and group channels.
Use all standard Rocket.Chat features (threads, reactions, attachments).
The embedded chat panel connects to the same Rocket.Chat instance as the case chat tab.
Prerequisites
Chat requires a Rocket.Chat instance connected to Energy SOAR Base. Configuration
is done in /etc/energysoar/application.conf.d/rocketchat.conf. Contact your
administrator if the Chat tab is missing or shows a connection error.
